Lyric Hammersmith Theatre Exceeds Fundraising Target Following Donation from Kings Mall Shopping Centre
Earlier this month, the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre launched a crowdfunding campaign to help re-open its doors, after the impact of Covid-19 put the theatre’s future at risk.
We are delighted to announce that we have now exceeded our target after receiving a donation of £30,000 from neighbouring business, Kings Mall Shopping Centre, Hammersmith.
The donation comes at an important time for the theatre, which relies heavily on ticket and bar sales, events and classes for income – the forced closure has had a detrimental impact on both the Lyric and the industry.
The Lyric’s Executive Director, Sian Alexander said about the donation: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and messages of support from our local community at our time of need who have given at every level from £2 to £2,500. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference, and as we enter a second lockdown, the support of our community continues to be essential.”
Kings Mall Hammersmith was acquired by Ingka Centres – Ingka Group – late last year. The mall is currently undergoing significant redevelopment, which will see it become an Ingka Centres ‘Meeting Place’ – a mixed-use destination built around the needs of the local community.
