LAMDA x Lyric Future Technicians

Live in West London and interested in backstage and technical roles in Theatre?

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) are looking for young people aged 14-19 who live in West London to take part in a free 8-week technical theatre course, taking place between the Lyric and at LAMDA. The cohort will take part in practical sessions led by industry professionals, exploring Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, and Staging and Rigging.

In the first session of the course, the group will be accompanied to watch Lost Atoms at the main house of the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.

We are particularly interested in hearing from young people from the global majority, young people who are D/deaf and disabled, young people from low-income households (measured by access to Free School Meals in the last 6 years) and young people in care / care leavers as we recognise these groups are currently underrepresented in the technical theatre industries.

In order to apply, you must fulfil all the following criteria:

  • Be aged 14-19
  • Must be able to travel to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre (W6 0QL) and LAMDA (W14 9DA)
  • Live anywhere in West London
    • Applications will be prioritised for those who currently live in one of the following boroughs: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond Upon Thames, Wandsworth and Westminster
  • Be able to commit to attending and completing the entire eight-week programme:
    • Monday 2 February 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Show at The Lyric at 7:30pm (Dinner provided)
    • Monday 9 February 5:30pm – 7:30pm
