SPRINGBOARD Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about SPRINGBOARD

Q

  1. What is the criteria for little to no formal training?

We actively welcome those who may have little performing experience such as participatory and/or community programmes with other theatres or arts organisations. However, this opportunity is not eligible for those who have graduated from an accredited drama school (this includes foundation courses). If you were unable to complete a performing arts course prior to graduation, you are still encouraged to apply.

If you feel anxious or unsure regarding your eligibility for this programme, please get in touch with Alessandra at participation@lyric.co.uk or at 020 8741 6822 extension 425.

  1. The programme is for 18 – 25 year olds. I am 17 or 25 years old at the time of applying. Am I still eligible?

Yes, you can still apply. Applicants must be aged 18-25 from the programme start in January 2025. For example, if you are aged 25 and 10 months on January 2025, you are welcome to apply.

  1. What can I expect in auditions?

Anyone invited for an audition will receive information prior to auditioning. The first round will take place in groups, and the second round will be individual. These will both be held in person at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, W6 0QL. You do not need to prepare anything for the first round, but will be asked to for the second round. If you’d like to attend an audition preparation session for SPRINGBOARD, we are hosting one in November, please get in touch.

  1. How many hours per week is this programme?

The hours will vary week to week based on training requirements, for example, some weeks will involve workshops whereas other periods of time will consist of intensive rehearsals. A full example schedule is available here, which lists dates and times for 2025.

  1. There are a few dates listed in the schedule that I cannot attend. Am I still eligible?

This will vary case to case, based on the amount of unavailability. Please contact us directly in addition to your application with an indication of the date(s) you anticipate you will be unable to attend. Alternatively, please email this information to Alessandra at participation@lyric.co.uk.

  1. I don’t live in one of the eligible West London boroughs, but I have family that do. Am I still eligible?

To be eligible to apply, you must live in one of these ten West London boroughs: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond upon Thames, Wandsworth and Westminster.

  1. How much is the bursary and how will it be paid?

The Bursary is £200 per month during term time. This will be paid by bank transfer, direct to your account, on the last working day of every month.

  1. Can I work while I’m part of the training programme?

Yes. This part time training programme is designed to provide you with the flexibility to work, learn and have financial support, made possible by the monthly bursary.

  1. I am having trouble filling in the form on the website. Who can I contact if I am having an issue?
