Call Out: Panto Ensemble

We are looking for 4 young and exciting performers (aged 18-25) to form the Ensemble for this year’s production of Aladdin – written by Vikki Stone and directed by Abigail Graham. Expect all your favourite characters as well as live music, magic lamps, plenty of laughs, adventure, true love and a journey to a faraway land. The Ensemble make up an integral part of the pantomime. They feature in many scenes and musical numbers – singing, dancing and acting.

No previous experience is necessary but you must have a strong passion for musical theatre and pantomime. You must live in one of the 10 boroughs of West London (Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond upon Thames, Westminster and Wandsworth).

This is a paid training opportunity and not a professional engagement. Therefore we cannot accept applications from those undertaking formal training and/or who are already represented by an agent.

As part of this opportunity you will;

  • Be paid the National Minimum wage per hour.
  • Develop singing, dancing and acting skills whilst working with an established creative team and a company of professional actors.
  • Perform in over 60 shows to a projected audience figure of 30,000
  • Receive pastoral care and support from our Creative Youth Worker (Charlie Farrant), Director of Young Lyric (Rob Lehmann) and Producer (Kate Baiden).
  • Get the chance to have individual workshops on budgeting, contracts and writing letters to casting directors and agents.
  • Have a meeting with an Equity representative about how to join Equity.

We are especially interested in hearing from people who are currently underrepresented in the UK theatre industry such as people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, who identify as d/Deaf or disabled, who have caring responsibilities, who are non-binary and/or transgender, who have found drama school inaccessible due to financial pressure or any other barriers that may have prevented access to training.

The Lyric will cover the cost of any access requirements in order for Ensemble members to take part in this opportunity.
