Amici: Our Time
Join Amici Dance Theatre Company as they mark 45 years of groundbreaking inclusive performance with Our Time - a powerful, poignant and deeply personal new production that shines a light on love, resilience and history.
Our Time tells the moving story of two men whose relationship spans five turbulent decades. Set against a backdrop of global change – from the Cold War and the Fall of the Berlin Wall to the legalisation of same-sex marriage and today’s conflicts marked by displacement and division – this visually rich and emotionally charged piece explores how society’s attitudes toward love, identity and difference continue to evolve.
Bringing together Amici’s signature fusion of dance, live music and circus, Our Time is a celebration of connection, courage and creativity. With humour and heartbreak, colour and sound, the show invites audiences to see the world – and each other – through a more compassionate, inclusive lens.
Wolfgang Stange, Amici’s founder and artistic director, began creating Our Time in the final year of his life and at its heart the show is a tribute to him and his lifelong partner, the acclaimed artist George Beven. Their extraordinary love story and Wolfgang’s visionary leadership of Amici form the soul of this production – honouring a legacy of artistic innovation, radical inclusion and the boundless potential of every human being.
