Stuart Burt appointed as Artistic Associate at the Lyric
We are very pleased to announce that casting director Stuart Burt has been appointed as an Artistic Associate starting 1 April 2018.
Stuart will be joining Jude Christian, Paule Constable, Joel Horwood, Ola Ince, Ferdy Roberts, Tal Rosner and Simon Stephens, the existing Artistic Associates at the Lyric. The group was formed by Artistic Director Sean Holmes when he joined the Lyric in 2009.
Stuart said: “I am extremely honoured to be an Artistic Associate of the Lyric Hammersmith and thrilled I get to continue my relationship with this magnificent building and team. I look forward to helping introduce new Artists and audiences alike to this, the most vibrant of producing houses in the UK. A house which steadfastly puts the community it serves at the heart of everything it undertakes, whilst also making a significant impact with its daring programme of work, both nationally and internationally.”
Stuart established Stuart Burt Casting in April 2017, having previously held the post of Head of Casting for The Ambassador Theatre Group.
Work includes Standing at the Sky’s Edge (Sheffield Crucible), The Rocky Horror Show (UK Tour), Kindertransport and The Madness of King George III (Nottingham Playhouse), Pinter at the Pinter (Harold Pinter Theatre), HOGARTH: The Art of Success & Taste of the Town (Rose Theatre, Kingston), Little Shop of Horrors (Regent’s Park), The Christmasaurus (Hammersmith Eventim Apollo), Oklahoma (Grange Park Opera), The Seagull (Lyric Hammersmith), Big Fish (The Other Palace), Uncle Vanya (Clwyd/Sheffield), Terror (Lyric Hammersmith & Brisbane International Festival) and The Rocky Horror Show (BB Promotion).
Stuart was Head of Casting for The Ambassador Theatre Group until April 2017. Plays in the West End for ATG include Buried Child, The Spoils, The End of Longing and Passion Play. Touring plays include Blue/Orange, Private Lives and Gaslight. Musical credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Rocky Horror Show, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Annie Get Your Gun, Tonight’s the Night, The Choir and Spamalot.
As Casting Director for The Jamie Lloyd Company, West End productions include Doctor Faustus, The Maids, The Homecoming, East is East (and UK Tour), The Ruling Class, Richard III, The Pride (and UK Tour), The Hothouse and Macbeth.
Stuart is a member of the Casting Director’s Guild of Great Britain and Ireland.
