Cinderella Turns On the Christmas Lights of Hammersmith!

For the first time ever, our Cinderella turned on the Christmas lights on Lyric Square!

Timmika Ramsay, aka Cinderella in the upcoming Panto at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, joined the Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, Councillor Daryl Brown, to turn on the Hammersmith BID Christmas lights in Lyric Square, Hammersmith on Wednesday [13 November] evening.

The public are encouraged to take a selfie with the tree on Lyric Square and tag @HammersmithBID on Instagram and Twitter with #Hammersmith this festive season.

The light switch on happened in collaboration with Hammersmith BID who bring low-emission Christmas lights to the town centre every year. Alongside the switch on, the BID raised money for new initiative, Small tap, big change, which aims to combat challenges associated with homelessness in the area. Donations are taken through contactless devices which can be found in pubs, shops and offices across Hammersmith city centre.

Joining Timmika on stage in Cinderella are Shobna Gulati (Madame Meanie), best known for playing Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street and Anita in dinnerladies and Rhys Taylor (Fairy Fredbare) who’s recent work includes Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens at the Union Theatre.

Cinderella’s step-sisters will be played by Mairi Barclay (Topsy) and Lauren Samuels (Popsy). Jodie Jacobs (Buttons) returns to the Lyric stage after playing Bow Belles in Dick Whittington last year, and Gabriel Fleary, known for Don Quixote (RSC West End), Run Fat Boy Run and St Trinians will play the role of Bob the Prince.
