Lyric hosts Climate Emergency events

The planet is in ecological crisis: we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event this planet has experienced – scientists believe we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown.

Are you worried? Not sure what do to? Want to find out how you can make positive action? We’re hosting two free events at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre to talk about the climate emergency in an open space.

Hammersmith & Fulham Extinction Rebellion and the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre Present a talk on the Climate Emergency.

Studio Theatre, Tuesday 24 September, 19:45

In this public talk, climate speakers from Extinction Rebellion will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change, and offer solutions through the study of social movements. Everyone is welcome and there will be time to ask questions and discuss afterwards.

Hammersmith & Fulham Friends of the Earth and the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre Present a free film screening of Disruption.

Cinema, Wednesday 30 October, 19:45

When it comes to climate change, why do we do so little when we know so much?

Through a relentless investigation to find the answer, Disruption takes an unflinching look at the devastating consequences of our inaction – laying bare the terrifying science, the shattered political process, and the civic stasis that have brought us to this social, moral and ecological crossroads.

This is the story of our unique moment in history. We’re the first generation to feel the impacts of climate disruption, and the last generation that can do something about it.

This free screening will be followed by a Q&A.
