Lyric life

Katie Salmon

It is with great sadness that the Lyric Hammersmith announces the death of the theatre’s Head of Costume Katie Salmon on Tuesday 26 February 2019.

Katie has been a member of the Lyric team since 2002, starting as a Wardrobe Assistant, becoming Wardrobe Supervisor in 2007 and Head of Costume in 2011.

Katie worked on over 100 Lyric shows making costumes for productions such as the Olivier award-winning Blasted, the cult hit Ghost Stories, the iconic Bugsy Malone, the Lyric’s seminal productions of Metamorphosis and A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as the Lyric’s celebrated pantomimes. Her incredible talent, spirit and commitment to the Lyric Hammersmith will never be forgotten.

Sian Alexander, Lyric Hammersmith Executive Director said: ‘We have lost a much loved member of our Lyric family. Katie’s spirit and positivity whilst living with cancer over many years and her determination to continue to do the job she loved was inspiring.  Her warmth and kindness alongside her skill as a costume maker made her an integral member of our creative team. Our love goes to her family and friends as we all come to terms with losing such a wonderful friend and colleague.’

Sean Holmes, Lyric Hammersmith Artistic Director 2008 – 2018 said: ‘Katie was pure Lyric. Full of care, dedication and fun. She worked tirelessly to ensure excellence in everything we put on our stages, whilst effortlessly supporting designers and actors to be their best. She will be missed greatly by so many.’
