RideLondon: They did it!

Lyric staff complete the 100 mile RideLondon course to raise money for our work with young people.

On Sunday our Producer, Peter Holland and Visitor Services Manager, Matt Dillon took on the 100 mile cycle RideLondon to raise money for the Lyric’s work with young people.

It was an early start with the boys arriving at the start line at 5.45am for a 7.30am start. As they set off other Lyric staff woke from their beds and managed to dot themselves across London and Surrey to catch a glimpse of our cyclists.

After many hills and 100 miles Matt crossed the finish line in a time of five hours and forty seven minutes. Not long behind him, at six hours and thirty seven minutes, Pete also completed the race as well.

Lyndel Harrison, our Director of Development, who spectated the race said ‘It was so exciting to see them go past on Chiswick Bridge and yell hello. Then as we stood in the rain and gloomy weather on Putney Bridge 4 hours later they were still smiling as they raced past. I’m so proud of the effort that Matt and Pete put into their training, fundraising and the race. It was a brilliant result for them and for the Lyric’s work with young people.’

From all at the Lyric we want to say a huge thanks to our wonderful cyclists who between them so far have raised almost £4,000, including Gift Aid. You can still sponsor them via the links below.

We’d also like to say a thank you to HammersmithLondon for sponsoring the team kit.
